The final paper is a synopsis of all the course readings and concepts concerning Money, Power, and Politics this term. The final essay concentrates on several of the issues we examined this term, with a focus on what can be done about some of the problems for democracy that were addressed vis a vis the nexus of Money, Power, and Politics (the political economy of democracy).
The final paper should be 4-6 pages (1,000-1,500 words, but can be longer), double-spaced, typed, Times New Roman 12 pt. font, one inch margins, properly cited in Chicago Style for endnotes or footnotes.

Prompt:
1. How does the intersection of Money, Power, and Politics impact democratic institutions- (from the rise of corporate personhood to the Citizens United and McCutcheon cases, we have examined this issue in several ways)? How has corporate capitalism impacted democracy in relationship to public participation (for better and/or worse, from Marxist and socialist thought to pro corporate voices)? What role does money play in American politics, what interests does it reflect (which can be many), and how is the political system affected as a result in a way that impacts the voice of the people as an electorate voting in a purportedly representational body politic? Feel free to select related chapters from the Parenti readings, course materials and sources in your response. What are some possible solutions for these challenges facing our democratic society? What are your final thoughts on the subject– Money, Power, and Politics in America?

Readings from which to choose- Any of the (Democracy for the few) Parenti chapters 1-6, 9, 12, 14, 19; Censored 2017 selections of chapter 1, chapter 4, and/or 7. Censored 2018 as relevant. Some sources must come from these books.
