How has corporate capitalism impacted democracy in relationship to public participation (for better and/or worse, from Marxist and socialist thought to pro corporate voices)? What role does money play in American politics, what interests does it reflect (which can be many), and how is the political system affected as a result in a way that impacts the voice of the people as an electorate voting in a purportedly representational body politic? Feel free to select related chapters from the Parenti readings, course materials and sources in your response. What are some possible solutions for these challenges facing our democratic society? What are your final thoughts on the subject– Money, Power, and Politics in America?
